PADI OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE

This course is conducted in three phases.  Phase 1 includes initial course documentation and three academic theory sessions.  The academic part includes reviewing five videos each of which covers one of the five chapters of the textbook.  Phase 2 includes a swimming skills assessment and five swimming pool sessions.  Phase 3 includes four open water dives with a minimum depth of 20 feet.

PHASE 1 SEQUENCE Day 1 - First academic session (4 hours).      a.  Complete and sign course documents and releases.      b.  Review module 1 and 2 videos.      c.  Review module 1 and 2 with the instructor.      d.  Complete the knowledge review sheets. Day 2 - Second academic session (4 hours).      a.  Quiz 1 (10 questions - 15 minutes).      b.  Quiz 2 (10 questions - 15 minutes).      c.  Review module 3, 4, and 5 videos.      d.  Review module 3 and 4 with the instructor.      e.  Complete knowledge review sheets. DAY 3 - Third academic session (4 - 5 hours).      a.  Quiz 3 (10 questions - 15 minutes).      b.  The dive tables exercise.      c.  Quiz 4 (10 questions - 15 minutes).      d.  Review module 5 with the instructor.      e.  Complete knowledge review sheet.      f.  Course review.      g.  Final test (50 questions - one hour).                      PHASE 2 SEQUENCE Day 4- Pool session (4 hours).      a.  Swimming skills review.      b.  Immersions 1 - 5.                      PHASE 3 SEQUENCE Day 5 - Open Water Training Dives (5 hours).      a.  Open Water training dive 1.      b.  Open Water training dive 2. Day 6 - Open Water Training Dives (5 hours).       a.  Open Water training dive 3.       b.  Open Water training dive 4.       c.  Graduation. NOTES: The theory course is done in Santa Bárbara de Heredia, or during the three day intensive course on location. The practical pool and open water training is done at Playas del Coco, Costa Rica or Bocas del Toro Panamá. Phase 1 - $60.00 - Paid first day at theory session. Phase 2 - Confined water work free. Phase 3 - $185.00 - Paid day after confined water work.
